Ready, Set, Inspire: Looking forward to another year of learning and adventures

As we prepare for the new academic year, we are taking a moment to reflect on everything we achieved together across Wave Trust last year. After the well-earned summer break, we look forward to doing it all again this year!
We look forward to more hands-on science experiments, creative art workshops and to growing our own fruit and veg in academy gardens.
We look forward to more collaboration with our internal and external colleagues to offer inclusive sport experiences across the Trust and can’t wait for more challenges such as Ten Tors and Musicals.
We look forward to our Eco-Champions continuing to lead the way on our sustainability journey and our Climate Action Plan.
We look forward to further use of our woodland spaces in Cornwall and Devon to continue to inspire in outdoor learning and connection with nature.
We look forward to our upcoming Wave wide Inset day on 2nd September where staff will be able to engage in a range of subject-specific professional development sessions all to help our young people achieve their true potential.
Our past pupils have thrived through the enriching, practical learning experiences on offer at Wave. We remain committed to innovation, inclusion, and excellence in Alternative Provision. Here's to another year of professional growth, creativity, and collaboration!
Our academies are back open to pupils on Wednesday 3 September.

Winners PRUsAP Dinner Awards 2025

We were excited to attend the PRUsAP conference held in Guildford on 20 June 2025.
Back to Basics: For the Sector, By the Sector – the PRUsAP conference focused on shared understanding of the Alternative Provision, drawing on the work of experts working in the sector.
We are thrilled to share the success of Wave colleagues at the PRUsAP Awards Dinner. Congratulations to:
Haydn Pearse of Caradon AP Academy who won Alternative Provision Leader of the Year!
Andy Wilson at North Cornwall AP Academy who was Highly Commended in the AP Teacher of the Year category
Wave Caradon AP Academy who were Highly Commended in the AP Team of the Year category
These awards are a real testament to the hard work, passion, and skill across Wave Trust.
We were also proud to share our experiences and expert knowledge in discussions and to collaborate with Youth Sport Trust to deliver a workshop on PE in a Box at the event too.
It has been an honour to be recognised and to continue to help lead the way and support others across the Alternative Provision sector. It was a great networking event to share best practice. We look forward to using ideas gained at the event too. Thank you to PRUsAp for hosting a valuable and entertaining event.
Well done to all involved.
World Environment Day

At Wave Trust we are committed to our sustainability strategy.
We have a Climate Action Plan in place. We monitor our Carbon Emission Savings – even having a league table for a bit of competition within Wave settings. Who will sit at the top of the table by reducing their emissions the most this year?
We have termly projects – this term it is all about waste management and is being driven by our Eco-Champions. Rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle. Following new legislation, we separate our food waste and have this collected but we are also working on a composting project. Each academy will receive a compost bin kit to build with the pupils. To reduce overall waste all kitchen scraps, peelings, and other compostable materials can be added to the bins and turned regularly to aerate the pile. This will not only reduce food waste but will produce nutrient rich compost. This compost can then be used in the academy gardens to produce fruit and vegetables to use in our cooking lessons. All this fits in nicely with our ongoing healthy school food project.
We have two patches of woodland for the use of our academies in Cornwall & Devon which also helps us offset our carbon footprint. These resources give our pupils the opportunity to learn from and enjoy nature. In Forrest School and Learning Outside of the Classroom we can offer hands-on lessons, building confidence, curiosity and connection with the world.
We always encourage our pupils to take care of our environment, but the litter picking and pollution surveys at the beach this academic year have been a thought-provoking experience. So much plastic! #BeatPlasticPollution
Let’s take care of and enjoy our environment.
